Gorakhpur: Father-in-law and brother-in-law’s evil eye on new daughter-in-law, FIR registered against in-laws
In Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, a newly married woman has lodged a police complaint making serious allegations against her husband and in-laws. The woman alleges that within a few days of marriage she started being harassed for dowry. She has made allegations of assault, dowry harassment and indecent behavior against her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
According to the victim’s complaint, her marriage took place with great pomp in March this year. The family had spent a huge amount on the marriage but after reaching her in-laws’ house, she had to constantly listen to taunts regarding dowry. The woman says that pressure was put on her regarding four-wheeler and other demands.

Controversy started from wedding night
The woman has alleged that the misbehavior with her started from the very first day of their marriage. According to her, the husband argued over some issue and later assaulted her. The woman claims that she was also threatened when she protested. She said that after this her life in her in-laws’ house began to be spent in an atmosphere of constant tension and fear. The victim says that when she complained to other family members, her views were ignored. On the contrary, he was advised to fulfill the demands of the family.
Serious allegations against brother-in-law and father-in-law
According to media reports, in her complaint the woman has also accused her brother-in-law and father-in-law of inappropriate behaviour. She says that in the absence of her husband, her brother-in-law tried to do indecent acts with her. After protesting and making noise, he left from there. Apart from this, the woman alleged that one day her father-in-law also came to her room and tried to behave inappropriately. After the woman’s protest, he left the room. After these incidents, she became mentally disturbed.

Thrown out of house for not meeting dowry demand
The victim alleges that her in-laws were constantly demanding money to buy a vehicle and a flat in Mumbai. When her demands were not met, she was beaten up and eventually thrown out of the house. Police say that based on the woman’s complaint, an FIR has been registered and the matter is being investigated.
