Cloud burst in Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, 34 roads affected in the incident, agencies engaged in relief work.
Jammu Kashmir Kishtwar Cloudburst: On June 2, two incidents of cloud burst were reported in Gahan Sarthal and Machipal areas of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. However, till now there has been no news of any casualties or any major damage due to the incidents at both the places. Area officials are present in the affected areas. Constantly monitoring the situation.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh on Tuesday took to social media platform ‘X’ regarding the incident in Kishtwar. But wrote that I just spoke to DC Kishtwar, Pankaj Sharma. Two incidents of cloudburst were reported in Kishtwar district today. No report of any loss of life or property has been received so far. Employees and machines have been deployed to clear and reopen the roads in the areas affected by the incident as soon as possible.
Machines engaged in relief work of affected roads
Union Minister Jitendra Singh said, ‘Officials of revenue, disaster management, police and other concerned departments are on full alert and are constantly keeping an eye on the affected and surrounding areas. Mobile patrolling teams and field staff are in constant touch with the local people to take stock of the situation and provide help wherever needed. My office is also in constant touch.”
34 roads were affected in the incident
Kishtwar DC Pankaj Kumar Sharma said that due to cloud burst, there was sudden flood on the hill located between Drabshala and Gujjuwa. Due to which 34 roads including Suru-Sarthal, Zero Point, Drabshala and Machhipal have been affected.
The district administration has activated additional measures for surveillance and relief operations. Officials from revenue, disaster management, police and other concerned departments are on full alert. And the main highway leading to Drabshala has been cleared.

District administration issued alert on the incident
Due to this incident, all the top officials including district administration, revenue, disaster management are on full alert. And are keeping a constant watch. Coordination has been issued with the General Manager of NHIDCL based at Doda. And the public is being appealed to maintain proper distance from rivers and drains in view of the monsoon conditions.
