Got punished for accompanying students on NEET? Tej Pratap Yadav will spend 14 days in jail

Police have arrested RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son and Janashakti Janata Dal president Tej Pratap Yadav in connection with the uproar during the NEET protest in Bihar’s Patna district. On Saturday night, the police took him from Naubatpur police station to the magistrate, from where the court sent him to Beur jail for 14 days judicial custody. This is the first time in Tej Pratap’s life that he has had to go to jail. Police say that this arrest has been made in the case of demonstration, clash and stone pelting in Gandhi Maidan.

According to the police, on the day of the protest, Tej Pratap Yadav was involved in the ongoing demonstration near Gate No. 10 of Gandhi Maidan. He was holding the tricolor flag in his hand and was leading the demonstration of youth and student organizations. After this, he was also present in the ongoing movements in Kotwali and Gandhi Maidan police station areas throughout the day. During this demonstration there was a clash between the police and the protesters. In this incident of stone pelting, many policemen including Gandhi Maidan police station in-charge Akhilesh Mishra and TOP in-charge Pramod Kumar were injured. Based on this case, the police has taken this action against him.

How did the arrest happen?

Initially the police detained him but after some time he came out of the police station. After this the police traced their location. On receiving the information, the police reached the City Center Mall in Patna and caught him again from there and took him to Naubatpur police station. After completing the interrogation and medical examination at the police station, he was produced in the court in the night itself.

Patna SSP Karthikeya Sharma said that Tej Pratap Yadav is accused of inciting riots and disturbing law and order. There was violence during the demonstration and policemen were injured, on the basis of which this arrest has been made and further legal process is underway. Patna West SP and Law and Order SDPO Komal Meena were also present there during this action. Some of his supporters were also with him at the time of his arrest.

After this incident, the stir in Bihar politics has intensified. Police say that this step was necessary to maintain peace and law and order in the state. At the same time, RJD and other allies have called it political revenge. RJD leaders say that students and youth had taken to the streets for their rights and Tej Pratap was only supporting them but the government is sending leaders to jail to suppress this movement. On the other hand, the ruling party says that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands and action will be taken against whoever is involved in violence or sabotage.
