Forgot your old PF account? Government’s new E-PRAAPTI portal will work in minutes, this way you will get the stuck money
E-PRAAPTI Portal: If you have changed your job and any of your old EPF accounts are lying inactive, now you will not have to go through a long paper process to find it and get the amount deposited in it. Let us tell you that to solve this problem, the government has created a new digital portal named E-PRAAPTI, with the help of which employees can easily track, access and link their old and inactive PF accounts with the existing UAN. Information about this new portal was given in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State for Labor and Employment Shobha Karandlaje. Reports say that EPFO has developed this digital platform with the aim of reactivating old accounts and making it easier to access the deposits in them.
How will E-PRAAPTI portal work?
If we talk about E-PRAAPTI portal, it will work completely on Aadhaar based authentication. In which first the identity of the member will be verified through Aadhaar. After this the user will be able to locate his old inactive PF account and safely transfer the amount in it to his active UAN account. Not only this, the amount deposited in the old PF account can also be claimed through this portal. But at present this facility will be useful only for those people who know the details of their old PF account.
At the same time, the government has clarified that at present no proposal has been made to extend the scope of this facility for those employees who do not remember their old PF number or other identity related information.
What will be the big benefits to the employees?
It has been made clear in the reports that the new system will reduce the paperwork to a great extent and many processes can be completed without any human intervention. Along with this, joint declaration form for updating KYC can also now be submitted digitally. This will make settlement of old inactive EPF accounts faster, transparent and easier than before. It will provide great relief especially to those employees who change jobs frequently and face difficulty in transferring the old PF account every time.

Why was there a need for a separate portal?
As you know, before the implementation of UAN system, many employees used to create separate PF accounts. After changing jobs, many of these accounts became inactive and people even forgot their information. In such a situation, the objective of the E-PRAAPTI portal is to save both time and effort of the employees by finding the old PF accounts, transferring their amount and making the entire process digital. In such a situation, this step towards digital governance can prove to be a relief for lakhs of employees, especially for those whose hard-earned money is stuck in old PF accounts for years.
