Government scared of Parliament march on 20th July….. Sanjay Singh attacks Center on Sonam Wangchuk case
Tezzbuzz Desk- The political controversy over the issue of taking Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar to the hospital has intensified. Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh hit out at the central government, alleging that the government was scared of the proposed Parliament march on July 20, so it tried to stop the movement through police action.
Sanjay Singh said that the country’s youth, common people and MPs from various political parties are going to participate in the march till the Parliament to be held on July 20. He alleged that the government had realized that Sonam Wangchuk’s voice was now becoming a big issue across the country, hence action was taken to remove her from Jantar Mantar.
The AAP leader said that Sonam Wangchuk was on fast for the last 21 days and he was raising issues related to the youth of the country. He claimed that a large number of youth have been affected by problems like paper leaks and Wangchuk was organizing the movement to raise their voice. Sanjay Singh accused the central government of not communicating. He said that despite the fast going on for such a long time, no representative from the Prime Minister or the government came for talks. He raised the question that if a person is on hunger strike for such a long time for his demands then the government should have talked to him.
He alleged that suddenly on Saturday morning a large number of police forces reached Jantar Mantar and action was taken to remove the protesters. According to Sanjay Singh, force was used on the protesters and Sonam Wangchuk was taken to the hospital. He said the step was taken because Wangchuk had called for a peaceful march towards Parliament on July 20. Sanjay Singh accused the government of arrogance of power and said that in a democracy, instead of suppressing the voice of the people, they should be listened to. He said that protesting is the democratic right of the citizens and the government should find a solution to the movements through dialogue.
The AAP MP said that the government has shown strictness during many movements in the past also. Referring to the farmers’ movement and the youth-related protests, he said that trying to end every movement through force is not appropriate. He appealed to the youth to support Sonam Wangchuk’s movement and raise their voice strongly. Sanjay Singh said that the voice of the public cannot be suppressed for long and dialogue is the biggest path in democracy.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police says that Sonam Wangchuk was taken to the hospital in view of her deteriorating health condition. According to the police, this step was taken on the advice of medical experts and under the directions of the court. Police also said that restraint was maintained throughout the action and appealed to the protesters to vacate Jantar Mantar peacefully. Now political rhetoric regarding this entire matter has intensified. While the opposition is accusing the government of suppressing the movement, the administration is calling it a step related to health and law and order. All eyes are now on the future events regarding the proposed Parliament march on 20th July.
