Government’s big step to save children from heatwave, new time table implemented in Bihar schools

Patna: In view of the continuously increasing heat and heatwave in Bihar, the Education Department has decided to change the timings of schools. Keeping in mind the health and safety of the students, new timings have been implemented for secondary and higher secondary schools. The department says that the children were facing problems due to the scorching heat, hence this step has been taken so that studies can continue and the students can also stay safe from the scorching sun.

Classes will start after the prayer meeting

According to the new schedule, after the school opens, prayer meetings and other activities will be organized from 6:30 am to 7 am. After this regular classes will start. The duration of each period has been fixed at 40 minutes, so that the studies of the students can continue in a systematic manner.

Fixed time of recess and mid-day meal

Under the revised timetable, holidays have been kept from 9 am to 9:40 pm. During this time, mid-day meal will also be distributed in primary schools. After this the classes will start again and the last teaching period will end at 12:20 pm.

District Magistrates get special powers

The Education Department has given permission to all District Magistrates (DMs) to take additional steps as per the local weather conditions. If the heat situation in any district becomes more severe then the DM can make further changes in the school operations or take other necessary decisions for the safety of the students.
