New Delhi, 28 September 2026: With the onset of winter in the capital Delhi, the Delhi government has announced to take strict measures to control the increasing air pollution. After the high level meeting held at Parivaar Bhawan, the government has taken important decisions including ban on construction activities, increase in parking charges and change in timings of government offices from November 1. Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and PWD Minister Pravesh Verma were present in this meeting.
The government has decided to ban dust and pollution causing activities in a phased manner. There will be a ban on outdoor civil construction and dust-raising demolition activities from 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027. Apart from this, there will be a complete ban on all types of construction and demolition works from 10 December 2026 to 20 January 2027. To reduce the use of private vehicles, the government has decided to double the parking fees at authorized parking spots from 1 November 2026 to 28 February 2027. However, Delhi Metro parking spaces have been exempted from this increase.

Change in office hours and 50% 'work from home'
To reduce traffic jams and pollution, timings of government offices have been changed from November 1 to February 28. MCD offices will remain functional from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Also, Delhi government offices will open from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. The system of 'work from home' has been made mandatory for 50 percent of the employees in government and autonomous offices.
