Gram Swaraj is not just a political slogan, it is the foundation of self-reliant villages: CM Yogi

Lucknow. On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath mentioned the concept of Gram Swaraj and the changes taking place in the villages of the state. He said that rural areas lagged behind in development for a long time because of doing politics considering villages only as vote banks. The present government is working considering villages not as the last step of development, but as the first unit of self-reliant Uttar Pradesh and new India.

Targeting those who consider villages as vote banks

Taking aim at the previous governments, the Chief Minister said that before 2017, problems remained in the villages instead of development and better arrangements. Villagers had to visit tehsil, police station and district headquarters for simple tasks like income and caste certificates.

He said that due to the politics of those who kept the villages entangled in the politics of anarchy and casteism and saw the villagers only as a vote bank, the villages were left behind in the race of development.

Village is not the last step of development, but the first unit.

CM Yogi said that his government's thinking regarding villages is different. Instead of villages being the last step of development First unit of new India and self-reliant Uttar Pradesh Work is being done as per expectations.

He said that in the last nine and a half years, changes have been made in the arrangements related to villages. Along with increasing transparency and accountability in the functioning of Panchayats, emphasis has been laid on providing maximum facilities to the villagers at the local level.

Digital facilities in 57,600 village secretariats

The Chief Minister said that the state 57,600 village secretariats Facilities like e-Gram Swaraj, digital payments and online monitoring are available. He says that through village secretariats, many essential services are being made available to the villagers in the villages themselves.

He also claimed that with the operation of village secretariats, about 5 to 7 employment opportunities Are also born. This has helped in improving employment as well as access to government schemes and services in rural areas.

Digital libraries being built in 11,350 gram panchayats

The Chief Minister also mentioned the expansion of education and digital facilities in villages. He said that the state's Digital libraries in 11,350 gram panchayats are being established.

Through digital library, efforts are being made to provide better resources to the students and youth of rural areas for studies and preparation for competitive examinations. The Chief Minister said that expansion of digital facilities in villages will create new opportunities for rural youth.

Gram Swaraj means self-reliant village

Yogi Adityanath said that for him Gram Swaraj is not just a political slogan. This is linked to Mahatma Gandhi's dream that villages should be self-reliant and empowered.

No place for family model

The Chief Minister said that there is no place for nepotism in the system of Gram Swaraj. It is the priority of the government to make Panchayats transparent, accountable and development focused.
