Indian Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa has created history by winning the 'Grand Chess Tour'. He has become the first Indian to win the Grand Chess Tour. He registered a spectacular victory by defeating defending champion Fabiano Caruana 15-13 in the final match played in St. Louis, USA on Friday. Praggnanandhaa started the final match six points behind Caruana but took the lead by winning both the rapid games.
After this Praggnanand maintained his hold in all four blitz games. Ultimately they won 15–13 and won the title. After winning the final match, he won a prize of 2 lakh dollars and a trophy.

Confirmed his place in the Grand Chess Tour
With the victory, Praggnanandhaa has also confirmed his place in next year's Grand Chess Tour. Apart from this, Wesley So also made a strong comeback against Vincent Keymer in the third place match. After the rapid games between the two players were tied, Wesley So won all four blitz games to win 18–12.

Nitin Narang expressed happiness
All India Chess Federation (AICF) President Nitin Narang has expressed happiness after this victory of Grandmaster Praggnanandha. Narang congratulated Praggnanandhaa on becoming the first Indian to win a Grand Chess Tour. He said that Praggnanandha has shown his fighting spirit and patience by winning the title against Fabiano Caruana 15-13.
Nitin Narang said that another Indian name has been registered in the history of global chess.
