Haridhar. To strengthen the resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a Sant Samagam was organized on Sunday at the ancient Avadhoot Mandal Ashram in the religious city of Haridwar located in Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand. In which people like Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Pramod Krishnam of Kalki Ashram, Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev along with saints from across the country participated.
Shivraj Chauhan said that frequent elections are an obstacle to development. He said that one nation, one election is the need of the country today. He appealed to the Sant Samaj for public awareness and urged them to convey Modi ji's ideas to the public. He said that country first, party later; May Modi ji's resolve of one nation, one election be fulfilled. He said that the entire song of Vande Mataram is a symbol of the unity of the country. Now India will not be allowed to be divided further.
He said that frequent elections are affecting the pace of development and public service of the nation and are causing huge wastage of time, money and administrative energy. He said that due to frequent elections, education in schools stops, the administrative machinery gets busy in preparing for the elections and the pace of development works reaching the people slows down.
He said the country would benefit if the time and expense spent on election preparation, which according to reports runs into lakhs of crores, could be reduced. The Union Minister said that if Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are held simultaneously, resources will be saved, time related to elections will be saved and administrative focus will be focused on development. He appealed to the Sant Samaj to help in creating public awareness with their presence and power of speech.
He said that with the blessings of the saints and the widespread influence of their disciples, this idea can spread rapidly in the country and become a strong public inspiration for the national interest, rising above political parties. He also requested that the saints should support “one nation-one election” in their sermons so that enthusiasm is generated among the public and the path of constitutional amendment is smoothened.
During this, Shivraj Chauhan supported Prime Minister Modi by mentioning the steps and the bill taken on this subject and said that this work is not just an issue of one party, but an issue of the entire country. If the country remains ahead, the parties will also survive.
'Vande Mataram' described as a symbol of national unity
In his speech, he laid special emphasis on the importance of Vande Mataram and said that this song is a symbol of patriotism and national unity, and not of any party or community. He said that before the independence of the country, under the pressure of Muslim League, Vande Mataram was cut into two pieces and that became a reason for partition; India will not be allowed to be divided any more. Chief Minister Dhami told the forum that the Uttarakhand government and he personally support this idea and together will contribute to increasing public support.
