Great earthquake in Tamil Nadu politics! 60 years old unbroken relationship ends, this big group left Stalin
The biggest and shocking news of this time is coming out from the politics of Tamil Nadu. The political equations of the state have completely changed. Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has officially announced to break its nearly 60-year-old historic alliance with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). With this big decision, a six-decade old strong political relationship in the state has ended forever. The Muslim League has now expressed full confidence in the newly formed party ‘Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK) that has come to power in the state and its chief and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
Historic decision taken in Chennai meeting
This very shocking decision was taken in the high-level meeting of the General Council of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) held in Chennai on Saturday. In this meeting, there was a long discussion on the current political situation among the top leaders and workers of the party, after which the resolution to leave DMK was unanimously passed.
National President of IUML himself made a big announcement
Giving official information about the break of the alliance, IUML National President K.M. Kader Mohideen said that our party fully respects the clear mandate given by the people in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. He said that the Muslim League has given its full support to the formation of ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK) government in the state and his party has now become an important part of the state government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. Mohideen bluntly said that considering the current political situation in Tamil Nadu, it was no longer possible for our party to continue its association with the DMK alliance at any cost.
In this important meeting, the leaders have also made it clear that the final decision on what will be the official strategy of the electoral alliance regarding the upcoming by-elections and local body elections will be taken only after the dates of these elections are announced.
The entire strategy changed with the rise of Vijay from superstar to Chief Minister.
TVK party, which entered Tamil Nadu politics just two years ago, performed a charisma in this elections which even big political pundits had not expected. Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s party has formed the government brilliantly, leaving many veterans and traditional warriors of the state far behind in the race.
This explosive rise of Chief Minister Vijay to the pinnacle of power in Tamil Nadu has forced almost every small and big political party in the state to rethink and make changes to their old alliances and old strategies. It is worth noting that traditionally the minority community in Tamil Nadu has always been unilaterally and strongly supporting the DMK, but in this time’s assembly elections, a large part of the minority vote bank went to the TVK side. This is also considered to be the biggest and main reason for Muslim League leaving DMK and going with Vijay.
This unbreakable political relationship was six decades old
Let us tell you that this political friendship between DMK and IUML was not new, rather it started in the year 1967. For the last 60 years, this party has been counted among the closest and trusted Muslim allies of DMK in every thick and thin. However, there have been some exceptions amid this long history, when the Muslim League contested the 1996 and 2001 assembly elections in alliance with the AIADMK. But except those few years, in all the subsequent years the political alliance of the Muslim League remained with the DMK with complete loyalty, which has now completely ended.
