These days, various employee organizations are strongly demanding from the government to release the bonus for Group-B and C non-gazetted central employees as soon as possible. There is constant pressure from the employee organizations that the bonus should be paid as soon as possible. In this connection, on September 25, 2026, the 'Joint Council of Postal Employees' has sent an official letter to the Secretary of the 'Department of Posts' with a strong request that the bonus be given to the employees before Durga Puja. On the other hand, some representatives associated with employee organizations have also expressed the possibility of payment being made in the beginning of October. However, it is also worth keeping in mind that no official and fixed date for bonus payment has been announced by the government yet, hence this possibility of the first week of October cannot be considered as the last date.
Why are sharp questions being raised regarding the limit of ₹7,000?
This time, the biggest and heated issue regarding the bonus is its calculation ceiling. In the notification issued by the Central Government on September 25, 2026, the old wage ceiling of ₹ 7,000 has been retained for calculating PLB. On the contrary, all the major employee organizations of the country including 'NC-JCM' are strongly demanding to increase this limit directly to ₹ 21,000.
Employee organizations have a very simple and solid logic behind this. He says that when the minimum wage level has been fixed by the government itself at around ₹ 21,000, then this limit of only ₹ 7,000 for calculating the bonus is completely outdated and very low. Regarding this legitimate demand, NC-JCM had written a letter to the Cabinet Secretary of the country on August 27, 2026, urging him to reconsider it.
