Final report to be submitted by May 2027

It is noteworthy that the Central Government had officially constituted the 8th Pay Commission last year i.e. on 3 November 2025 and the Commission has been given a total of 18 months to prepare its final report and submit it to the government. This clearly means that the Commission will have to submit its final recommendations to the government by the coming year i.e. May 2027. Even before this, the Commission has completed several rounds of discussions with various employee organizations and pensioners in major cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Leh, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.

At present, the eyes of central employees and pensioners across the country are completely focused on how the Commission includes the suggestions received during all these meetings in its final report. Experts believe that this time issues like fitment factor, minimum basic pay and pension are going to prove to be the most effective, which will have a direct impact on the pockets and income of lakhs of government employees and retired employees of the country.
