GT vs RCB: Captain Gill said on Gujarat’s victory, ‘It was great to restrict Bengaluru to 155 on this pitch’
Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill said after registering victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here on Thursday that it was great to restrict the strong batting lineup of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to a score of just 155 runs on a good pitch. Gujarat Titans defeated RCB by four wickets with the help of good starts from Gill (43 runs in 18 balls) and Jos Buttler (39 runs in 19 balls).
After being invited to bat, defending champions RCB were all out for just 155 runs in 19.2 overs against the bowling attack of the host team. The team was all out for the first time this season. Apart from Gill (four fours, three sixes) and Butler (two fours, four sixes), Gujarat Titans finally achieved the target by scoring 158 runs for six wickets in 15.5 overs with the help of Rahul Tewatia’s unbeaten 27 runs (four fours in 17 balls).
Gill said after the match, “I am feeling very satisfied.” To restrict a batting line-up like RCB to 155 on a wicket like this is fantastic. “We have not fielded well many times in this tournament,” he said. However, today the energy of the players was quite good from the second over onwards. The way we came back from there was fantastic.
Talking about batting, Gill said, “I was a little lucky on the first ball and after that I felt that today was my day. I was full of confidence that I could put pressure on the bowlers. As far as Rahul Tewatia is concerned, he is a very important player for us. Glad he finished the match for us. We had lost a few more wickets in the middle order. Although Tewatia scored runs.
