Gujarat Titans secured an 89-run win over the Chennai Super Kings to secure the top-two finish in the IPL 2026. CSK have been eliminated from the 19th season. GT posted 229 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs and dismissed CSK for 140 in 13.4 overs.
Chennai’s batting unit was under pressure from the start, with Sanju Samson failing to open his account. Urvil Patel also registered a duck.
Matthew Short (24 off 18), Ruturaj Gaikwad (16 off 7), Kartik Sharma (19 off 15), and Dewald Brevis (8 off 10) were not able to challenge the Titans. Shivam Dube was the only batter who looked impressive for the five-time champions, amassing 47 runs in 17 balls. He hit 4 boundaries and 4 sixes.
Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 26 runs in 3 overs. Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan also took 3 scalps each.
Earlier, Chennai skipper Gaikwad won the toss and invited the Titans to bat first, which backfired as the home batters were unstoppable.
Shubman Gill attacked the bowlers from the start, accumulating 64 runs in 37 balls, laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Sai Sudharsan, who took his time before going for big shots, contributed 84 runs in 53 deliveries, including 7 boundaries and 4 maximums.
Jos Butter faced just 27 balls for his 57 runs, and smashed 5 fours and 4 sixes.
Mukesh Choudhary, Spencer Johnson, and Anshul Kamboj claimed one scalp each.
