Gunmen attack south London, fire from moving car, elderly man shot – 4
A gunman attacked from a moving car in Brixton, south London. The assailant raised a gun from the window of the car and fired indiscriminately. Four people, including a senior citizen, were shot in this incident. The injured have been admitted to hospital. The condition of one of them is said to be critical.
According to the police, the persons aged 21, 25, 47 and 70 years were shot. Among them, the condition of a 25-year-old youth is critical. The rest are injured but not life threatening. After initial treatment they will be discharged. It is not yet clear who or why they carried out the attack. As of writing this report, no one has been arrested in connection with the attack.
An officer of the Metropolitan Police said that the Intelligence Department has started investigating the incident. The police are working to find the accused on an urgent basis. CCTV footage of the area is being scrutinized. Eyewitnesses are also being talked to. Along with this, a search is being conducted around the entire area. Security has been beefed up at the scene.
