Gurugram: A fierce encounter took place between the Crime Branch and suspected gangsters in Gurugram early Thursday. Several rounds of firing took place from both sides. 4 to 5 gangsters were shot in this firing. Two-three Crime Branch personnel have also been injured.

Suspects caught after intense firing   

According to initial information, police had received information about a group of gangsters hiding in Gurugram. When the crime branch team reached to arrest them, the miscreants started firing directly at the police. In response, the police also took charge and retaliated.

The sound of bullets kept echoing in the area for about 15-20 minutes. Four to five suspects were shot during the encounter. Two to three police personnel also got injured during this period. After the incident, the entire area was surrounded and a search operation was conducted.

Injured admitted to hospital   

After the shooting, all the injured policemen and suspects were immediately admitted to a private hospital for treatment. According to doctors, the condition of some is critical, but out of danger. Gurugram Police Commissioner Shibas Kaviraj confirmed the encounter over phone.

He said, "Some people have been admitted to the hospital. The operation is still going on. Further information will be given after investigation." Police have also recovered weapons and cartridges from the spot. It is suspected that these gangs were involved in incidents of robbery and extortion.

Increased security in the area   

After the news of the encounter, heavy police force has been deployed in that area of ​​Gurugram. Vehicles are being checked by barricading the surrounding roads. Police say that raids are going on in search of the remaining absconding suspects. Along with the Crime Branch, the Special Task Force team is also engaged in the joint operation.

Officials have appealed to people not to panic and report any suspicious activity to the police. In the last few months, incidents of gang war and encounters have increased in NCR. In such a situation, Gurugram Police is considering this operation as a big success. At present, all the injured admitted in the hospital are undergoing treatment and the police is busy interrogating them and investigating the network of the entire gang.
