New Delhi: Whenever Delhi-NCR receives even a little heavy rain, the first pictures of Gurugram start going viral on social media. Long traffic jams, water-logged vehicles, knee-deep water on roads and stranded people—these scenes are now becoming the hallmark of monsoons in Gurugram.
On one hand, the city has the country’s most expensive properties, high-rise towers and large corporate offices, on the other hand, questions are raised about the city’s drainage system and infrastructure as soon as it rains.

Photos and videos shared by people on social media showed roads submerged in water and people riding cars and bikes in trouble.

Trader and YouTuber Manas Arora shared his ordeal on social media platform X. According to him, he had to leave his car on the road due to heavy rain and waterlogging.
Manas said a biker came to his aid and took him to his home in DLF area through waterlogged roads.
In his post, he described the area as a luxury area with properties worth around ₹300 crore.

After Manas’s post went viral, many users questioned Gurugram’s town planning and drainage system.
One user wrote that such massive flooding is a sign of a serious problem with the city’s drainage system. While another user quipped that an area with a property worth ₹300 crore doesn’t look so ‘premium’ after being flooded.
Luxury city, but old problem in rain
Even though Gurugram has luxury properties worth crores of rupees, offices of international companies and modern buildings, the problem of rainwater drainage often comes to the fore.
