A horrific shooting incident shook Assam’s Guwahati city on Monday, October 26, 2026, leaving at least four people dead and several others injured, including women. The violence took place near Hotel Bilas Inn, located in a lane close to a Kalyan Jewellers outlet in the busy Bora Service area.
Emergency Response and Investigation Underway
Local authorities immediately rushed to the spot following reports of gunfire. Emergency services transported the injured to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for urgent medical treatment. Reports indicate that one injured person later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Guwahati Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta visited the crime scene to review the situation and confirmed the recovery of four bodies.
”It is a very sad incident. We have recovered four dead bodies, and they are being sent for post-mortem examinations. We will nab the accused as soon as possible,” Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta told reporters.
Manhunt Launched to Apprehend Suspects
The Guwahati Police have launched a wide-scale search operation to identify and arrest the perpetrators behind the attack. The identities of the deceased and the motive behind the shooting remain unconfirmed as investigators continue to collect evidence from the scene.
