Haris Rauf Fined 20% of Match Fee for ICC Code of Conduct Breach Against England

Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf was admonished and fined 20 per cent of his match fee for breaching the International Cricket Council (ICC) Code of Conduct during the ODI tri-series match against England in Lahore on Sunday, October 27, 2026.

Rauf was found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel for showing poor sportsmanship. As a result, he received one demerit point on his disciplinary record. This was his third offense in 24 months, bringing his total to five demerit points. (ICC Media Release, October 28).

What Led to Haris Rauf's ICC Sanction?

Rauf had a run-in with Will Jacks of England after he requested a wide at the non-striker's end during the 46th over of Pakistan's innings. During the altercation, Rauf raised his bat while continuing to argue with the umpire after a warning from fielding umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid.

As a result of Rauf walking past the umpire, the fast bowler was charged formally as the on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Sharfuddoula, along with third umpire Wayne Knights and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain.

He admitted to the punishment suggested by match referee Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

England were also fined a percentage of their match fee for their slow over-rate during the ODI. The county were fined 15 per cent for falling three overs over their target after accounting for all of their allowed time-outs.

According to section 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, teams will be fined five per cent of their match fee for every over that they fall behind their target. England captain Harry Brook admitted to the offense and accepted the punishment from Crowe, so there was no need for a hearing.

Pakistan Win by One Wicket

The incident occurred after Pakistan dramatically won the game. Shadab Khan played a crucial role as he scored an unbeaten century and put together an unbroken 89-run stand with Rauf for the 10th wicket to win the game with 17 balls left to play.

England could do nothing as the home side chased down the target.

The win means that Pakistan have booked their spot in the ODI tri-series final. They will face Sri Lanka in the title decider on October 31, 2026.
