The results of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment in Uttarakhand have once again increased the concern of the local youth. Selection has been done on 60 out of 65 posts earmarked for recruitment in the frontier district Pithoragarh and all the selected candidates are natives of Haryana. Of these, 50 candidates have been reported to have 100 percent marks in high school. After the results, questions have started being raised at the local level that why the youth of Uttarakhand are lagging behind in employment opportunities in their own state, while people from other states are getting opportunities.
The most important feature of Gramin Dak Sevak recruitment is that the selection is done from the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in class 10th. In such a situation, the candidates who have higher marks get an edge in the selection. The results revealed in Pithoragarh have intensified the discussion regarding this process.

Youth of Haryana are being selected
According to reports, in the recruitment for 51 posts in the district about two months ago, appointments could be made to 31 posts, out of which 28 candidates were from Haryana and only three were from Uttarakhand. Due to such results continuously emerging, dissatisfaction regarding competition and employment opportunities is increasing among the local youth.
Why are questions arising?
The most serious question in this entire matter is the complaints of some selected candidates about not being able to work in Hindi language. It is being claimed that some Gramin Dak Sevaks who have scored 100 per cent marks in Hindi are facing difficulty in writing applications in Hindi and in everyday government work. In such a situation, people are now questioning his selection.
people demanding investigation
Protests and discussions have intensified at the local level regarding the selection of candidates from other states. Hotel Association President Rajendra Bhatt has also expressed surprise at the result. The question of the local people is that when the candidates who got full marks in Hindi are facing complaints of facing problems in their work, then why the selection process and certificates should not be scrutinized. At the same time, the Postal Department's stand is that the appointment is done on the basis of high school marks and the candidates scoring more marks get priority in merit.

Is Corona the reason?
Schools were closed during the Corona period. Due to this, 10th and 12th board examinations could not be conducted in many states. Even in Haryana, children were promoted to the next class without examination. In such a situation, many children also got 100% marks. Now recruitment in Postal Service is done only on the basis of 10th class merit. In such a situation, the candidates who passed during the Corona period are likely to get benefits in such recruitments.
