Bengaluru, September 28, 2026: In a bid to raise awareness about prostate cancer and encourage men to prioritise their health, HCG Cancer Centre, KR Road, Bengaluru, organised the ‘Spinning Towards a Healthier Future’ cyclothon, bringing together more than 210 participants.
Joined by HCG’s cancer winners, employees, cycling enthusiasts, and community members, the cyclothon turned prostate cancer awareness into an engaging community experience. Participants came together on their bicycles, carrying a simple but important message, that conversations around prostate health need to begin early and that men should be encouraged to be more proactive about their health.
From the flag-off to the finish line, the entire event was a display of exuberance and energy. People gathered to cycle, along with their support towards the cause. It was an effort to make discussions on prostate cancer open and engage people to take action when it came to their health.
Commenting on the initiative, Ms. Manisha Kumar, VP & Regional COO – HCG Karnataka & Tamil Nadu, said “At HCG, we feel cancer awareness is as important as cancer treatment. The enthusiasm and participation that we have seen in the cyclothon were encouraging because it showed how a community could come together to support a health cause. Our aim was to take the discussion on prostate cancer out of the hospital and make it more open and engaging. We hope this initiative inspires more men to be aware of their health and take medical advice on time.”
Adding to this, Dr. Raghunath K, Director – Uro-oncology and Robotic Surgery, HCG Cancer Centre, K.R Road,, said“Prostate cancer can often develop without obvious symptoms in its early stages, which makes awareness and timely medical evaluation important. Men should be aware of their risk factors and discuss their health concerns with a healthcare professional when required. Initiatives like this cyclothon help bring prostate health into everyday conversations and encourage men to take a more proactive approach towards their health.”
This is also evident from the statistics related to prostate cancer. According to statistics available from the United States National Cancer Institute’s SEER program, there is a five year relative survival rate of 100 percent for men suffering from localized prostate cancer, implying the significance of diagnosing the disease at an early stage.
Through the Cyclothon initiative, HCG Cancer Centre continues its efforts to raise cancer awareness among the masses and help people make informed choices about their health. By conducting various campaigns that raise health awareness through active community participation, HCG hopes to make cancer-related issues more approachable for people.
By taking the initiative ‘Spinning Towards a Healthier Future’, the K.R. Unit of HCG Cancer Centre raised awareness through the idea of staying aware, paying attention to oneself and getting timely medical advice may lead towards a healthier future.
