Hearing of Ashutosh Ranka-Saurav Das postponed after SEM received death threat, Delhi Police registers FIR

New Delhi: Delhi Police has registered an FIR against unknown people for threatening the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM). This case is related to the bail of CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das. Due to this incident, the judicial custody hearing of both of them could not be held on Sunday.

According to police sources, this action was taken after the magistrate was allegedly threatened. Based on SEM's complaint, police have started legal process. Those who made the threat have not been identified yet and the police are investigating. The CJP had a day earlier alleged that the SEM did not preside over the hearing as he claimed that a party member had threatened to kill him. However, CJP says that this threat has nothing to do with the bail of Ashutosh and Saurav.

"All the procedures were complete, still nothing was heard"

CJP's legal head Ratna Singh expressed disappointment. She told that she was in the court premises since morning and she was given the hearing time at 12 noon. Dates were being received continuously for the last four days. According to Ratna Singh, by 12 noon all the formalities including verification of sureties and approval of FD had been completed. Despite this she kept waiting for hours. When the hearing started at around 5 pm, it was expected that the issue of release would be discussed on merit basis. But suddenly the government lawyer raised the issue of receiving threatening messages.

"It is wrong to stop release on third person's message."

Ratna Singh said that her lawyers had clearly told the court that if someone has threatened, then action should be taken against that person and his name and number should be recorded in the copy of the order. But his question is what does this have to do with the release of Saurav and Ashutosh. According to him, it is not at all right to restrict someone's freedom indefinitely on the basis of messages from a third person. The main issue was left behind and after a few minutes the magistrate got up and left. Both the leaders are still in Tihar jail. Ratna Singh said that they will talk to lawyers and legal advisors and decide the further steps.

Dipke's allegations against the government

Party founder Abhijeet Dipke wrote on "illegal arrest" Is prolonging. According to him, every trick is being used to delay the court proceedings and stop the release. He claimed that there is no legal basis to keep both of them in jail, hence delaying methods are being adopted.
