Heartstopper Finale Movie Gets Release Date on Netflix
Netflix announced a premiere date for the Heartstopper finale film, giving fans a timeline for their final farewell to the beloved YA romance. Creator Alice Oseman previewed what lies ahead for Nick and Charlie as the series wraps up with an ambitious leap to the big-screen format.
Heartstopper Forever premieres on Netflix in July
Heartstopper Forever will bring the beloved YA romance to a close as a feature film on Netflix. The streamer confirmed the premiere date as July 17, marking the fourth anniversary of Season 1’s release. Kit Connor and Joe Locke return as Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring for the final chapter.
Creator Alice Oseman wrote the film and also serves as executive producer alongside Patrick Walters and others. Meanwhile, Connor and Locke step into executive producer roles for the first time in the franchise. See-Saw Films produces the finale, with Euros Lyn also serving as executive producer.
The film picks up after Season 3, with Nick preparing to leave for university. At the same time, Charlie navigates new independence at school while the couple faces long-distance realities. Their friends also confront the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on.
Oseman shared her vision for the story’s emotional core with Tumdu. “The movie will be an exploration of time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives,” Oseman said.
She also addressed fans who questioned the shift from a traditional season format. “We are feeling very ambitious about what is possible in a movie format,” Oseman said. “Every part of Heartstopper can be elevated to a higher quality to create something memorable, sophisticated, and atmospheric.”
The full main cast returns for the farewell film. Joe Locke, Kit Connor, Yasmin Finney, Will Gao, Corinna Brown, and Kizzy Edgell all reprise their roles. Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, Jenny Walser, and Fisayo Akinade also return alongside other series regulars. Anna Maxwell Martin and Derek Jacobi join the cast as newcomers. Oseman bases the film on her upcoming sixth and final Heartstopper graphic novel.
