In many parts of the country, the weather conditions are going to be very harsh for the next few days. According to a special bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression over South Chhattisgarh and adjoining South Inner Odisha is moving in the north-west direction at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour. Meteorologists believe that this system will maintain its full strength for the next 12 hours and after that it will gradually weaken into a well-defined low pressure area. Along with this, a weather system associated with a Western Disturbance is also all set to have its impact on the weather of North India.
Red alert issued for extremely heavy rain in these states
Due to the combined effect of depression and western disturbance, warnings of extremely torrential rain have been issued in many states of the country. There is every possibility of extremely heavy rain at isolated places in Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh on September 25. Apart from this, a red alert of extremely heavy rainfall has been declared in eastern Uttar Pradesh for September 25 and 26, while in western Uttar Pradesh for September 26. Uttarakhand is likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall on September 26 and 27, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may receive extremely heavy rainfall on September 25.
How was the rain situation in the last 24 hours?
According to the data of the Meteorological Department, during the last 24 hours, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall has been recorded in different states of the country. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh and Odisha received extremely heavy rainfall of 21 cm or more. Whereas in coastal Andhra Pradesh, very heavy rainfall ranging from 12 to 20 cm was recorded. Apart from this, heavy rainfall of 7 to 11 cm has also been seen in Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Mahe, Karnataka, Telangana, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha.
Warning of thunderstorm and heavy rain in Delhi-NCR, Punjab and Haryana
The weather patterns will be completely changed in the states of North-West India on 26th and 27th September. Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Punjab during September 26 to 27. During this period, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, which can even reach 60 kilometers per hour in gusts. There is also a possibility of lightning at many places.
Himachal Pradesh may receive heavy rain on 26th and 28th September and very heavy rain on 27th September. Heavy rains will continue in Uttarakhand on 25th and 28th September also. Apart from this, there is a possibility of strong winds and rain at the speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour in Eastern Rajasthan from 27 to 29 September.
Stormy winds wreak havoc in Central India and Eastern states
The rainy season is going to continue in Central India. There will be heavy rain in Chhattisgarh between 25 to 28 September and in East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha between 25 to 27 September. On September 25 alone, strong winds will blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km/hour in Chhattisgarh. Very heavy rainfall is expected over East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on September 26, while West Madhya Pradesh may record very heavy rainfall on September 25 and 26 and heavy rainfall on September 27. There are full chances of heavy rain in Vidarbha on September 25.
The Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm warning for the states of Eastern India. On September 25, Jharkhand and Odisha may experience storm winds at a speed of 50 to 60 km/hr, which can even reach 70 km/hr in gusts. Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha may receive heavy to very heavy rains on September 25, while rains will continue in these states on September 26 also. There is every possibility of heavy rainfall in Gangetic West Bengal also on September 25.
Condition of North-Eastern states including South and West India
Talking about South India, there will be widespread rain in Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep on 25th and 26th September, while in Coastal Andhra Pradesh on 25th September. Strong winds with speed of 40 to 50 km/hr will prevail over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Telangana on September 25. Heavy rain alert has also been issued in Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana on September 25.
Gujarat region and Marathwada in western India will see strong surface winds on September 25 with a speed of 40 to 50 km/hr. Apart from this, in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura of North-East India, there has been a warning of heavy rain and lightning on different days between 25 to 29 September.
