Heavy rainfall continues in many states of the country; Alert issued by Meteorological Department in 63 districts of Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi : In many parts of the country since last few days the rainhas made a strong appearance. Monsoon season is fully active in Uttar Pradesh. On Monday, both eastern and western parts of Uttar Pradesh received heavy rainfall. Especially in districts like Bareilly, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rampur and Shahjahanpur, the rains were very strong.

Temperatures have dropped significantly in most parts of the state due to incessant rains, bringing relief from humidity and heat. The Regional Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in 18 districts for Tuesday, while a yellow alert has been issued for 45 other districts. A total of 63 districts are likely to receive rain or heavy rain. Additionally, rain and lightning warnings have been issued in approximately 60 districts.

Heavy rains lashed many districts of Terai on Monday. Bareilly recorded the highest rainfall of 174 mm. After this, Lakhimpur Kheri recorded 160 mm, Rampur 152 mm and Shahjahanpur 150.3 mm. Several other districts of the state also received light to moderate rains.

Light to moderate rain is likely to continue in the state for the next two days. There is also a possibility of thunder and lightning at some places.

Rainfall in July is normal

Monsoon rains in Uttar Pradesh have made up for the deficit in the month of July. The state recorded 160.5 mm of rainfall till July 20, while the normal figure for the period is 170.3 mm. This means there has been only six per cent deficient rainfall so far, which falls within the normal range according to the Meteorological Department. A senior scientist of the Regional Meteorological Center said that the monsoon condition in the state is normal at present.

Orange alert in which district?

Orange alert has been issued in Banda, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Eta, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and surrounding areas.
