Vehicles trapped in debris, power project damaged, roads closed
Sudden severe floods due to heavy rains in Kishtwar and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir have caused huge devastation. The TRT site of the 540 MW Kwar Power Project was also damaged, where several vehicles were buried under the debris. Due to the situation, Kishtwar-Doda road has been closed.
A sudden severe flood after heavy rains on Monday caused huge devastation in Kishtwar and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The water and debris brought with the strong current engulfed the TRT area of the 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric Project. Landslides have also occurred at many places due to floods. On the other hand, due to continuous rain, the administration has appealed to the people to stay away from rivers, drains and landslide prone areas. The situation in the affected areas is being continuously monitored.
The flood has affected the 540 MW Kwar Power Project. Due to huge amount of debris and water entering the TRT site of the project, many vehicles parked there got stuck in the debris. Many vehicles have been heavily damaged and are stuck under the debris. However, no casualties have been officially confirmed. The administration and related agencies are busy assessing the damage.
