Dr. Ganesh Baraiya, who reached the hot seat this time in Amitabh Bachchan's popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, attracted people's attention more with his life story than his game. Ganesh, who comes from Gorakhi village of Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, may be around 3 feet tall but the story of his courage and struggle is no less than a great inspirational character. In the recent episode of KBC 18, he shared many such stories from his childhood to his journey to becoming a doctor, which made the audience emotional after hearing them.
Ganesh Baraiya has been battling the challenge of dwarfism since birth and 72 percent of his body is affected by locomotor disability. Despite this, he never allowed his physical condition to become a hindrance in his studies. He scored 87 percent marks in class 12th and also cleared the NEET exam in the year 2018. According to available reports, he had cleared the medical entrance examination under the disabled quota. However, his path to becoming a doctor was not so easy. The Medical Council of India had raised objections to his admission to MBBS on the grounds of his physical disability.
After this, Ganesh's school principal Dr. Dalpat Kataria stood firmly with him. The matter reached the court and after a long legal battle, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Ganesh. After this, in 2019, he got admission in Bhavnagar Medical College and completed his MBBS. He had to face many difficulties during his studies but with the help of teachers and friends he achieved his goal.
The most emotional chapter of Ganesh's life is related to his childhood. He told in KBC that when he was young, some people associated with the circus had come to his house. His father was offered Rs 5 lakh in exchange for taking Ganesh with him. But his father chose his son's education and respect over money. This incident has also been confirmed in earlier reports. According to Indian Express, Ganesh was around 10 years old when a circus troupe offered Rs 5 lakh to buy him. His father rejected this offer and thereafter became even more cautious about Ganesh's safety.
Ganesh tells that his sisters used to carry him to school in their lap and his father used to carry him on his shoulders and send him to study. This trust of the family gave him the strength to move forward. Today the same Ganesh is serving patients as a doctor in Bhavnagar hospital. According to reports, he has worked as a medical officer and has been active in the work related to the treatment of patients in the hospital.
In KBC 18, Ganesh made his way to the hot seat by winning the Fastest Finger First Challenge. By giving correct answers to the initial questions, he traveled till the question of Rs 3 lakh, but by that time all his lifelines had ended. Due to not being able to answer the question correctly, his winning amount reduced to Rs 25 thousand and his KBC journey ended there.
The story of Ganesh Baraiya is an example of the fact that a person is not identified by his height or physical condition but by his courage and work. The child who was once offered Rs 5 lakh to be sent to the circus, today becomes a doctor and is busy saving the lives of patients. Ganesh's presence on the hot seat of KBC once again gave the message that dreams have no height and even the most difficult path can become easy in front of strong intentions.
