Helicopter Navigation System: New Delhi: The government has announced the approval of the country’s first indigenous Point-in-Space (PINS) instrument approach procedure for helicopter operations at Andhra Pradesh’s Undavalli heliport. The PINS process uses the latest satellite based navigation technology, enabling helicopters to make safe and accurate instrument approaches even to such heliports.

This system is particularly useful in adverse weather conditions and areas without land-based navigation facilities. Airport Authority developed this process and DGCA approved it. The system was developed in accordance with DGCA norms and International Civil Aviation Organization parameters and recommended procedures.
