Now help will reach immediately even in narrow streets, new plan of fire service started in Delhi

There has been a continuous increase in the incidents of fire in the capital Delhi this year. In recent months, many people have lost their lives in massive fires in several areas including Hazrat Nizamuddin, Vivek Vihar, Palam and Malviya Nagar. During these incidents, narrow streets and crowded roads made it difficult for large fire engines to reach the spot, which hampered relief and rescue operations.

26 new QRVs and 20 bikes will be included

To deal with this challenge, Delhi Fire Service (DFS) is going to include 26 new Quick Response Vehicles (QRV) in its fleet. Apart from this, the department has also received 20 new motorcycles, which will be used for initial response and providing quick assistance.

At present the department has 24 QRVs. After the inclusion of new vehicles, their number will increase to 50. There are plans to add 50 more QRVs in the next phase, taking the total number to 100.

Will be deployed with PCR unit

According to fire officials, the QRVs are small in size but equipped with state-of-the-art fire fighting equipment. They will also be deployed with the PCR unit of Delhi Police. Often, when a fire occurs, people first inform the police control room. In such a situation, with the joint response of police and fire department, help can be provided quickly on the spot.

Features of QRV

These mini fire engines have been prepared by modifying Maruti XL6. These are equipped with ultra high-pressure pump extinguishing system and water tank of 100 liter capacity. This pump is capable of rapidly controlling the fire in the initial stage by spraying 21 liters of water per minute.

Fire fighting system will be strengthened

The fire department believes that by increasing the number of QRVs, the fire will be controlled at the initial level by reaching it on time even in narrow streets and crowded areas. With this, relief and rescue operations are expected to be faster and more effective than before.
