Police raid the homes of eight accused in the Ram Mandir donation theft case; police may seek their remand from the court tomorrow.

Investigators have recovered Rs 79.85 lakh so far

Ayodhya. On Sunday, the police simultaneously raided the residences of all the eight accused arrested in the case of embezzlement of offerings in Ram temple of Ayodhya. Police sources said that this action was taken as part of the investigation of the case.

According to sources, police teams along with the local magistrate searched the residences of all the accused including Luv Kush Mishra, Avinash Shukla and Ramashankar Yadav. It is noteworthy that two days ago, an Ayodhya court had sent all the eight accused to judicial custody till June 29. Police may seek his remand during his appearance in the court on Monday.

The arrested accused Avinash Shukla, Anukalp Mishra, Luv Kush Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ram Shankar Mishra, Subhash Srivastava and Ramashankar alias Tinnu Yadav were involved in counting the cash and valuables received as donations in the Ram temple.

According to the prosecution, investigators have so far recovered Rs 79.85 lakh. The case has been registered under sections of the Indian Judicial Code relating to theft by a servant, criminal breach of trust, receiving stolen goods and criminal conspiracy as well as sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

This FIR was registered on the recommendation of the preliminary report of the three-member SIT constituted by the Uttar Pradesh government. The Uttar Pradesh government had formed the SIT on June 13 after allegations of embezzlement surfaced earlier this month.
