The Chief Minister chaired the review meeting of the Women and Child Development Department on Monday. During this, he directed the officials to start the process of giving ₹ 1,000 monthly pocket money till the age of 27 years to the eligible children of Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana.
According to the government, the objective of this scheme is to provide financial support to the children of widows, singles and needy women during their education. Under the scheme, the state government is also bearing the entire cost of higher education of eligible children.
21,292 beneficiaries are getting the benefits of the scheme
Presently in the state under Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana 21,292 beneficiaries are connected. Under the plan for the current financial year ₹40.29 crore Budget provision has been made.
The Chief Minister said that no child of the state should be deprived of higher education due to lack of financial resources. Preparation to send 100 meritorious students abroad
In the meeting, the Chief Minister gave instructions to prepare for foreign exposure visit for the beneficiaries of Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana and the meritorious students of 'Children of the State'.
