New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja created history on the third day of the Galle Test. Not only did he reach the mark of 350 Test wickets, but he also became the second Indian to score 4000+ runs and take 350+ wickets in Tests. Before him, only Kapil Dev could do this feat.
After Kapil, Jadeja becomes the fourth player in the world
As soon as Jadeja completed 350 wickets, he joined a very special list. Now there are only 4 cricketers in the world in this list.
- Kapil Dev – 5248 runs and 434 wickets
- ian botham – 5200 runs and 383 wickets
- Daniel Vettori – 4531 runs and 362 wickets
- Ravindra Jadeja – 4108 runs and 351 wickets
That means Jadeja's name has now been added to the elite club of all-rounders who have contributed consistently with both bat and ball. The special thing is that Kapil was a fast bowler and Jadeja was a left arm spinner. Different style, but same effect.
5th Indian to take 350 wickets
This achievement of Jadeja is also big because he is only the 5th Indian to take 350 or more wickets in Tests. Before this, Anil Kumble has taken 619 wickets, R Ashwin 537, Kapil Dev 434 and Harbhajan Singh 417 wickets. After Ashwin comes Jadeja. The remaining four were mainly considered bowlers, but Jadeja has always been known as an all-rounder.

Reached top-3 among left arm spinners
With 351 wickets, Jadeja is now third among left-arm spinners taking the most wickets in Test history. In this list, Rangana Herath of Sri Lanka is at first place with 433 wickets and Daniel Vettori of New Zealand is at second place with 362 wickets.
Jadeja is now just 11 wickets behind Vettori. If they bridge this gap then they will reach second place. Behind him are Derek Underwood on 297 wickets and Taijul Islam on 271 wickets.
Strike rate is also amazing
Jadeja not only takes wickets, the pace of taking them is also fast. Jadeja has the highest strike rate of 58.0 among left-arm spinners with 125+ Test wickets. In this, only Keshav Maharaj is ahead of him with 56.4. Meaning Jadeja is adept at creating pressure as well as taking wickets.
Showed all-round talent in Galle
In this match also, Jadeja did wonders with the ball. Sri Lanka was all out for 284 and India got a lead of 178 runs. Jadeja took 3 wickets for 57 runs with 5 maidens in 21 overs. Manav Suthar took 4 wickets.
The double of 4000+ runs and 350+ wickets – this is the real identity of Jadeja. After Kapil, India has got such an all-rounder who becomes a match winner for the team in every format.
