Historic record of 300 runs! Danielle Wyatt-Hodge creates new history in Women’s T20 World Cup
Knews Desk- Even though England’s experienced opener Daniel Wyatt-Hodge could not play a big innings in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, she made a record in her name which had never been made by any batsman before in the history of this tournament. As soon as she completed her six runs in the title match against Australia, Wyatt-Hodge crossed the 300-run mark in the entire tournament and became the first player to score 300 runs in an edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Wyatt-Hodge looked in great form throughout the tournament. He scored runs continuously from the first match and played many important innings. Her bat did not last long in the final and she was out after scoring only 8 runs, but despite this she created history.
Even before this, Wyatt-Hodge had held the record of scoring the most runs in an edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup. She had left behind Australia’s star batsman Beth Mooney’s record of 259 runs made in 2020. In seven matches of the tournament, Wyatt-Hodge scored a total of 302 runs at an average of 60.40 and strike rate of 149.50. During this period, one century and two half-centuries also came from his bat. England captain Nate Siver-Brunt also batted brilliantly in the final. She played an unbeaten inning of 58 runs and was the third highest run scorer in the entire tournament with 227 runs. His innings played an important role in taking England to a respectable score.
Australia’s Beth Mooney played an important inning of 56 runs in the final. With this performance, she took her total runs in the tournament to 238 and stood second in the list of batsmen scoring the most runs. Smriti Mandhana was the most successful batsman for the Indian team. He scored 205 runs in just five matches. However, India’s journey ended in the group stage itself. If the team had reached the semi-finals and finals, Mandhana might also have had a chance to reach the 300-run mark.
Batsmen created many new records in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, but Daniel Wyatt-Hodge’s historic figure of 300 runs became one of the biggest individual achievements of this tournament. This record will also set a new benchmark for future batsmen.
