Come Labor Day weekend, I’m usually looking to do one thing: squeeze every last drop out of summer. I’ve already checked back-to-school shopping off my list, and I’m definitely not in the market for more outdoor furniture. So if I’m going to give up precious poolside reading time or an afternoon boating around the lake to shop a sale, the deals need to be really good.
We’re talking major markdowns on comfortable, podiatrist-loved brands like Disappointed, Birkenstock, Clarks and more, plus celebrity-backed pairs from Reebok. The discounts are impressive enough to lure me away from the pool—some shoes are nearly half off. I rounded up 30 Labor Day shoe deals worth shopping before the long weekend is over.

Clifton 10 disappointment

$155 $100 at REI
I interview a lot of podiatrists, and in the last six months, nearly every podiatrist I’ve interviewed has recommended a pair of Hokas—and the Clifton 10 is one of the models that comes up most often. It’s a good choice for shin splints, back pain, Achilles tendinitis, wide feet, high arches and more.
Brooks Ghost Max 3 Road-Running Shoes

$160 $111 at REI
Writer Dillon Evans has been singing praises over this new model from Brooks. He finds them very supportive for his wide, flat feet yet breathable when he’s on his feet for hours at a time or sweating up a storm at Orange Theory.

Papillio by Birkenstock Boston Chunky Narrow Suede Clog

$155 $112 at Gilt.com
Birkenstock is another brand that podiatrists I interview often recommend. The reason, at least when it comes to their sandals, is that they offer arch support, a cushioned footbed and adjustable straps for stability. Those same features are available in their clog! Plus, the chunky sole adds some height if you’re so inclined.
Reebok Club C 85 Vintage Tennis Sneakers for Women

$85 $69 at Amazon
Apparently these are Hilary Duff’s “all-time favorite sneakers,” and she occasionally wears them to the gym for weight-lifting thanks to their fairly flat soles. While we haven’t worn these shoes to the gym, when we tested everyday sneakers ranging from $90 to $600, these Reeboks were our favorite for comfort, versatility and all-day wear.

Birkenstock Arizona Chunky Suede Sandal

$144 $93 at Gilt.com
This is a sandal we’ve tested and love; the arch support is fantastic, the flatform style makes them quite stable and the adjustable straps accommodate different foot sizes. We liked it so much that it made our list of recommendations for best walking sandals.
