Confession: Today I went to REI intending to “just look” and shop for you. Instead, I found myself scrolling through hundreds of new arrivals and mentally adding about two dozen things to my own wish list. It reminded me why late summer is my absolute favorite time of year to shop, since brands are rolling out fresh fall gear, but there’s still plenty of warm-weather adventure left to enjoy.
Fortunately, I don’t think I’m alone. Yeti Rambler Vacuum Water Bottle with Flip Chug Cap, 18-Ounce

How many times has your water bottle leaked in your gym bag, purse or all over the floor of your car? For me, it’s too many times to count. The flippable cap on this Yeti is your answer to a leakproof water bottle. And the “cuff” around the lid slides one direction to lock the cap or the other to easily release it.
Hoka Clifton 11 Road-Running Shoes

Brooks Hyperion Max 4 Road-Running Shoes

Brooks won me over with the Glycerin earlier this year, so I immediately clicked on the brand’s newest Hyperion Max 4. If a fall race is on your calendar, this is one of the new arrivals I’d be eyeing. Brooks designed the Hyperion Max 4 to feel lightweight and responsive while still offering plenty of cushioning to propel you through training runs and hopefully hit a PR on race day.
REI Co-op Trailmade Snap Fleece Mid Layer

I’ve become a big fan of REI Co-op gear because it often rivals pricier outdoor brands without the premium price tag. This fleece pullover is a perfect example, with hand pockets, a zippered chest pocket and UPF 50+ sun protection—all for about half the cost of comparable styles.
Asics Novablast 6 Road-Running Shoes

An earlier version of this shoe—the Novablast 5—was recommended by a podiatrist we interviewed for people with high arches. The newest model has now arrived at REI, and like its predecessor, it’s a neutral running shoe with max cushioning that may appeal to a wide range of runners.
Teva Aventrail R2T Trail-Running Sandals

Finding a sandal you can actually be active in isn’t easy. But this Teva pair is designed for trail running. Full disclosure: I probably won’t be logging trail miles in them, but they could absolutely handle late-summer adventures thanks to their cushy midsole, grippy outsole and breathable mesh beneath the straps for an even more secure fit.
Sherpani Wrap Around Travel Blanket

It was the foot-resting pocket and hand-warming pouch that made me immediately click “Add to Cart” on this travel blanket. It has the potential to solve all my airplane travel woes—assuming my kids don’t steal it first. And if you’re a camper (bless you!), you’ll appreciate that it packs down into a compact zippered pouch and weighs just over a pound, making it easy to toss into a backpack.

Biker shorts are my go-to for sweaty gym sessions these days, and this line is new from one of our favorite running brands: Brooks. After their Glycerin running shoes converted me earlier this year, these “cooling” shorts definitely have my attention. And can we talk about the size of that generous zippered pocket on the back waistband?
Yeti Rambler Mug with Ceramic Lining, 24-Ounce

The slimmer design of this Yeti mug fits my hand better than the Rambler Stackable Mug. Sure, the MagSlider lid isn’t completely leakproof, but I find it easier to use than those on many other travel mugs. And, best of all, the entire mug is dishwasher-safe.
Brooks Luxe Crop Long-Sleeve Shirt

This is the kind of top I’d reach for on a crisp fall hike or for lower-impact (read: less sweaty) winter workouts. The cropped silhouette is right on trend, and the buttery-soft fabric sounds incredibly cozy.
