Honda’s new ADV 160 ready to enter India: Know 5 major features of this premium adventure scooter

Automobile Desk – The craze for premium and sporty scooters is increasing rapidly in the Indian two-wheeler market. Keeping this demand in mind, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is preparing to launch its new maxi-scooter Honda ADV 160 soon. Recently showcased for the first time on Indian soil, this adventure-style scooter has a completely different identity from the common commuter scooters. After entering the Indian market, it will compete directly with established scooters like Yamaha Aerox 155, Aprilia SR 175 and the upcoming Hero Xoom 160.

If you are looking for a vehicle equipped with powerful, aggressive and modern features other than everyday travel, then this model can prove to be a great option. Let us know the 5 biggest features of this new maxi-scooter:

1. Liquid-cooled engine will provide strong performance – A 157cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine has been used in Honda ADV 160. This is the same powerful engine that is offered in many of Honda’s global scooters internationally. This engine is capable of generating maximum power of about 16 bhp and torque of 14.7 Nm. It is tuned with a CVT automatic gearbox, making it extremely easy to drive in busy city traffic. Due to liquid-cooling technology, the engine does not heat up even during long journeys or heavy traffic and riding performance remains intact.

2. First scooter to support E85 flex-fuel – The biggest technical feature of this scooter is its E85 fuel support. That means this scooter is capable of running on up to 85% ethanol-blended petrol. The way the Indian government is promoting environment-friendly and alternative fuels, this step of Honda is being considered very useful for the future. Currently, no other scooter in this segment is available with this technology in the Indian market.

3. Muscular and aggressive look like an adventure bike – Honda ADV 160 looks quite aggressive in terms of look and design. Its exterior design is inspired by Honda’s premium X-ADV series. It has edgy LED headlamps, high windscreen, muscular body panels and high ground clearance. For better stability and grip on rough and bad roads, it has been provided with large 14-inch alloy wheels at the front and 13-inch rear alloy wheels.

4. Safety and abundance of high-tech features – Talking about features, modern technology has been taken full care of in ADV 160. It has all-LED lighting, Honda Smart Key system, USB charging port, full-digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, large under-seat storage and external fuel cap. Keeping safety in mind, it has been provided with advanced features like dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) and traction control.

5. A premium lifestyle option different from ordinary scooters – This scooter is not limited to just daily commute i.e. daily commuting from home to office. The company has designed it keeping in mind those riders who want a different identity and adventurous riding experience apart from routine scooters.

Expected launch and availability

Although the company has not officially revealed the launch date and price of ADV 160, but auto experts believe that it can be launched in the Indian market through Honda’s premium network in the next few months.
