It was reported that the two were already likely to step down as Hopes has been appointed head coach of Queensland and Brisbane Heat, While Haddin will take over as the coach of the New South Wales men's team.

Hopes joined Punjab Kings from Delhi Capitals a few seasons ago under head coach Ricky Ponting. Haddin was already associated with Punjab Kings and Ponting also retained him in his post after becoming the head coach.
