An Indian crew member trapped in a cargo ship dies amid crossfiring in the Strait of Hormuz.
Strait of Hormuz: Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia, a major accident took place in the sea near the Strait of Hormuz. A cargo ship going from Dubai to Yemen suddenly came under crossfire. In this incident, sailor Altaf Talab Ker, resident of Salaya, Gujarat, died, while the remaining 17 crew members present on the ship were rescued safely. According to the information, a ship named ‘MSV Al Faiz Noor Sulemani-1’ was going from Dubai to Yemen with goods. Meanwhile, heavy firing started in the sea around the Strait of Hormuz and the ship got caught in the crossfire.

Heavy damage to the ship due to firing
It is being told that during the shelling, big holes were created in many parts of the ship. Due to continuous firing, the ship started filling with water rapidly and the situation went out of control. At that time Altaf was doing duty in the engine room. Amidst the damage to the ship and the chaos, he suffered serious injuries. Despite many efforts his life could not be saved. After the incident, panic spread among the remaining sailors present on the ship. A message was sent across the ocean for help.
The matter of relief was that another ship passing nearby started the rescue operation in time. 17 sailors trapped on the ship were rescued safely and later transported to the safe port of Dubai.
Demand for intervention from Indian government

After the incident, Indian Yachting Association Secretary Adam Bhaiya has appealed to the Indian Government for immediate help. He has demanded that arrangements should be made to bring the mortal remains of the deceased sailor to his native village Salaya as soon as possible. Apart from this, a demand has been made to bring back the remaining sailors who reached Dubai safely. The organization has also said that the death certificate and other necessary legal processes should be completed soon so that the family does not face any kind of problem.
This incident has once again exposed the growing danger in the maritime areas of West Asia. The Strait of Hormuz is counted among the world’s busiest and sensitive sea routes, where tensions have increased continuously in recent times. In such a situation, serious questions are being raised regarding the safety of sailors working at sea.
