Horrible effect of heat in Europe! Pressure on France’s crematoriums and cemeteries increases, funerals delayed due to thousands of additional deaths

New Delhi: Europe is currently in the grip of extreme heat and its most serious effect is being seen in France. The number of deaths has started increasing due to record breaking temperatures. The situation has become such that the mortuaries and funeral centers of many cities including the capital Paris are filled beyond their capacity. Many families have to wait a long time for the last rites of their relatives.

Severe shortage of space in mortuaries

According to the National Funeral Organization of France, on normal days only 30 to 45 percent of the capacity of funeral centers is filled, but this time this figure has reached more than 66 percent. Many major mortuaries of Paris are completely full. Due to this, people have to move to other cities or nearby areas for the last rites of their loved ones.

Experts say that if this situation continues, the funeral process may be further affected. There will be a delay in getting time for cremation and people may also have to wait for burial in cemeteries.

Increasing deaths increased concern

According to French health officials, there has been a sharp increase in deaths since the record heat began last week. There have been about 1,000 additional deaths in the same period compared to previous years. About 85 percent of these deceased were 65 years of age or older, who are considered most sensitive to extreme heat.

Many schools and tourist places closed

In view of the serious summer situation, the French government is constantly reviewing the situation. The Prime Minister has also held a high level meeting to deal with the heatwave. Due to extreme temperatures, many schools have been temporarily closed, while activities at some major tourist destinations have also been limited.

Climate change is being considered the reason

Climate experts believe that such continuously increasing and record-breaking heat is a big sign of climate change. He says that if the pace of global temperature rise is not stopped, then in future many countries of the world including Europe may have to face such serious crises again and again.
