Tezzbuzz Desk- A sudden technical glitch occurred during the flight in Air India flight AI 2379 coming from Phuket to Delhi. The altitude of the Airbus A320 aircraft decreased by about 300 feet in a few moments. However, the pilots took control of the situation and landed the plane safely in Delhi.
Airbus has submitted its initial investigation report and recommendations to Air India after analyzing information from the aircraft's flight data recorder. According to the report, the problem faced by the plane may be related to low pressure in the hydraulic system.
Initial investigation has revealed that a hydraulic system of the first aircraft malfunctioned. About a second later, the other two hydraulic systems were also affected. However, after a few seconds all three systems started working again.
According to Airbus, the aircraft's behavior matches that of a low hydraulic pressure situation. Due to low hydraulic pressure, some pressure switches indicated low pressure, causing the aircraft's actuators to stop working. This resulted in a change in the behavior of the aircraft's control surfaces and a sudden loss of altitude.
No fault found in flight control computer
Initial investigation by Airbus has not found any malfunction in the primary flight control computer. The focus of the investigation is currently on the hydraulic system of the aircraft.
Airbus has advised Air India to conduct a detailed operational check of the Green, Yellow and Blue hydraulic systems. Along with this, pressure switch and transducer have also been asked to be checked. It is also recommended to review the recent maintenance records of the aircraft.
There were 145 people on board the plane
At the time of the incident, a total of 145 people were on board this A320 aircraft of Air India. Despite the sudden change in altitude, the pilots controlled the aircraft and the flight reached Delhi safely. Information about some people being injured was revealed.
At present the plane has been stopped for investigation. Official reports from DGCA and Air India in the matter are awaited. Airbus' initial investigation has confirmed a technical fault, but further investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the loss of pressure in the hydraulic system.
