Back-to-back defending European champion Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa will be looking to secure their first European title of the season when they meet in the UEFA Super Cup at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Wednesday, August 12.
This is the third time PSG has played the Super Cup, having previously competed in 1996 and 2025 (last year). It is the current holder of the UEFA Super Cup after it staged a late turnaround to beat Tottenham Hotspur on penalties in the last edition.
Aston Villa has played one Super Cup final prior to this, winning the 1982 edition after beating Barcelona 3-1.
PSG has qualified for the Super Cup as the winner of the UEFA Champions League after it defeated Arsenal on penalties in the 2025-26 final.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, has earned its spot by winning the UEFA Europa League. It defeated SC Freiburg 3-0 in the final.
