The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) today announced the fourth consecutive repo rate cut. The RBI last cut the repo rate by 0.25 percent to 5.25 percent in December 2025. Lowering the repo rate reduces both the loan interest rate and the fixed deposit (FD) interest rate. Similarly, increasing the repo rate increases both the loan interest rate and the fixed deposit interest rate.
