The retail prices of petrol and diesel in the country have been increased by Rs 3 per liter. Government oil companies took this decision on Friday. The price of CNG has also been increased by ₹2 per kg in Delhi and surrounding areas. Now petrol in Delhi will be available at ₹ 97.77 per liter and diesel at ₹ 90.67 per liter. Prices vary slightly in different cities due to local taxes.

What losses are companies incurring on petrol and diesel?
Oil companies are still suffering huge losses. According to officials, there is still a loss of Rs 10 to 12 per liter on petrol and Rs 38 to 40 per liter on diesel. The price of Brent crude was earlier $ 72 per barrel, which has now reached around $ 108.
How much has the rupee fallen so far?
The rupee has also weakened to Rs 95.74 per dollar. This price increase has happened for the first time after April 2022. Then the prices were increased after the Russia-Ukraine war. This increase has been made after the assembly elections are over, which is being discussed a lot.

Why did diesel and petrol become expensive?
