Nick Jonas once had his sights set on playing Kristoff in Disney’s Frozenbut he admits he completely “bombed” the audition.
The Jonas Brothers band member shared the story on Hey Jonas! podcast on August 18, where he and brothers Joe and Kevin were joined by Frozen favorites Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad.
“I went in for Kristoff,” the 33-year-old singer revealed of the role which went to Jonathan Groff.
Talking about the audition, the Jealous hitmaker admitted he wsn’t fully prepared sharing, “I went in and they said, ‘Okay, what are you going to be singing today?’ I said, ‘Oh, I don’t know.’ They said, ‘What do you mean you don’t know?’ They’re like, ‘Do you have your sheet music?’ And I said, ‘No, no one told me I had.…,’ and so I just said, ‘Can you play something from,’ I don’t know what I said, some musical theater song.”
“And I bombed the audition. It was terrible,” he said.
The Good Place star didn’t miss the opportunity to tease Nick, joking that his botched audition must have been exactly why he lost the role.
“Look, I’ll say it here. You have such better chemistry with Kristen than Groff,” Josh playfully quipped.
“I love Jonathan Groff,” the Jumanji actor clarified, before playfully adding “but I do think it would have been better to cast me.”
Despite missing out on the role, Nick assured the group that he held no grudge against the film, saying he genuinely enjoyed watching it when it was released.
