The government’s One Nation One Ration Card (ONOC) scheme has made the process of ration distribution much easier. Under this system, beneficiaries are identified through digital medium and ration distribution is linked to Aadhaar. Its advantage is that the eligible beneficiary can get his food grains from the ration shop present in any part of the country. That means, if a person is out of his state or district due to job, wages or any other reason, he can still get the facility to get ration.
How to get ration if you forget your ration card?
- If you have forgotten your ration card at home, the ration dealer can verify your identity through the e-PoS machine.
- For this, usually your Aadhaar number or information related to ration card is used.
- After the identity verification process is completed, information about your family and your share of ration appears in the system.
- Once eligibility is confirmed, the dealer can give you the prescribed quantity of ration and a delivery receipt is also given.
This is how biometric identity is confirmed
The identity of the beneficiary is verified through e-PoS machine at the ration shop. For this, fingerprint or other biometric medium can be used as per the available facility. If the verification is successful, information about the family and the ration received appears in the machine.
