Diwali is the biggest festival of Hindu religion. Its preparations start in homes a month in advance. The work of cleaning and decorating the house also starts. Worship of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha has special significance on the occasion of Diwali. On this special occasion, people buy idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha and worship them. In many homes, there are idols of Lakshmi-Ganesh made of metal i.e. brass, copper or silver which are worshipped. But with time it loses its shine. Worshiping dirty or discolored idols is not considered auspicious. In such a situation, people take various measures to clean it. But still the old shine does not return. In such a situation, some easy home remedies can be useful for you. By adopting the home remedies mentioned here, you can easily clean the metal idol.

1. Use lemon and salt

Lemon and salt are an excellent natural cleaner for brass and copper statues. For this, take two spoons of salt in a bowl and add juice of one lemon to it. Apply this paste thoroughly on the idol with the help of a sponge or soft cotton cloth and leave it for 5-10 minutes. After this, wash the idol with lukewarm water and wipe it thoroughly with a clean cotton cloth. The idol will shine.

2. Tamarind
The use of tamarind can prove effective in removing soot and stubborn stains on old copper and brass idols. To use it, prepare the pulp by soaking tamarind in water for some time. Apply this pulp on the idol and leave it for a few minutes. The natural acid present in tamarind easily cuts the dirt and grime accumulated on the surface of the metal. After this, wash the idol with clean water and dry it.

3. Vinegar and baking soda solution
If the sculptures have become very dirty and have stubborn stains, use vinegar and baking soda. Mix a little white vinegar with one teaspoon baking soda. When it becomes slightly foamy, apply it to the corners of the statue with the help of a soft brush. After rubbing it with light hands, wash it with clean water. Keep in mind that use this method with caution on silver idols.
