How will BSP save its core votes? Mayawati faces many challenges
Lucknow. Bahujan Samaj Party, founded by Kanshi Ram in 1984, created a stir in politics by securing a single majority in the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. BSP had won 206 seats through Dalit-Brahmin alliance. Along with UP, BSP had also increased its support base in Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. The party had won 21 Lok Sabha seats in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

From the 2017 and 2022 assembly elections to the 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BSP had to face a shameful defeat.
