Although the company has not yet shared official information about its powertrain, but according to reports, a hybrid version of the existing 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine can be given in it.
In terms of design, the new Seltos Hybrid will be quite similar to the existing model, but to give it a different identity, ‘Hybrid’ badging and some special changes can be seen in the exterior and interior.
Sorento Hybrid will enter the premium SUV segment
Kia is also preparing to launch its globally popular 3-row SUV Sorento Hybrid in the Indian market. After launch, it will compete with popular SUVs like Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar.
In international markets, the Sorento Hybrid is available with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission. There is a possibility that the Indian model may also be given the same powertrain or an engine option similar to the Seltos Hybrid.
New generation Sonet will also be launched
Kia may also launch the second generation of its successful sub-compact SUV Sonet in the second half of 2027. Codenamed ‘QY2E’, this SUV will be based on the new K1 platform, which will support advanced electrical architecture.
The new Sonet is expected to get OTA updates, remote diagnostics and other connected car features. Initially, it can be offered with the existing petrol and diesel engine options, while by 2028-29, strong hybrid technology can also be added to it.
Syros EV will increase the strength of EV portfolio
To strengthen its hold in the electric vehicle segment, Kia will soon launch Syros EV. Its sales are likely to start from August 2026. In the Indian market, it will compete with popular electric SUVs like Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
According to reports, the Syros EV will come with a front-wheel drive (FWD) configuration and may have 42kWh and 49kWh battery pack options. The company aims to deliver this SUV to mass-market EV customers with better range and modern features.
