A big update has come to light amid police investigation into the Aston Martin accident in Hyderabad. The initial alcohol and drug tests of Lingamaneni Sanjush, son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh, have come negative. According to the police, on August 16, near Inorbit Mall, his car collided with 26-year-old sales executive Bharti Mukhi, who died on reaching the hospital.
At present, the police has sent Sanjush’s blood sample for FSL test, while Aston Martin’s technical investigation report and post mortem report are also awaited. The police have given him a notice under Section 35 of BNSS asking him to cooperate in the investigation and have made it clear that if new evidence is found, further action including arrest can be taken. The special thing is that the car involved in the accident was not registered in the name of Sanjush.
What did the test show?
According to the police, after the accident, a preliminary alcohol and drug test was conducted on Sanjush, in which no indication of intoxication was found. However, the police have not considered this initial investigation alone as the final basis. Sanjush’s blood sample has been sent to Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further investigation. Now the FSL report is awaited. Along with this, other reports related to the accident will also be part of the investigation. The police is yet to receive the motor vehicle inspector’s report and the post-mortem report.
How did the accident happen?
According to the initial investigation by the police, Sanjush was driving an Aston Martin and the speed of the car was very fast. Police allege that the vehicle was being driven carelessly and at high speed. Meanwhile, a car hit Bharti near Inorbit Mall. Bharti was taken to Apollo Hospital in critical condition, but doctors could not save her. After post-mortem, his body was handed over to his brother, after which the family took him to Odisha.
Whose name was Aston Martin?
Investigation has also revealed that the Aston Martin which caused the accident was not registered in the name of Sanjush. Police have seized the car and got it technically examined by the Motor Vehicle Inspector. Its report is yet to come.
Why was Sanjush not arrested immediately?
Police said that based on the evidence available at present, there was no need for immediate arrest of Sanjush. He has been given a notice under Section 35 of BNSS and has been asked to cooperate in the investigation. The DCP has also rejected claims that the arrest was not made due to political influence. According to the police, the action has been taken as per the legal provisions and guidelines of the Supreme Court. If new evidence comes to light in further investigation, other action including arrest can be taken.
Under which section was the case registered?
Police have registered a case under section 106(1) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). This section is related to the death of someone due to negligence or irresponsibility and there is a provision of maximum punishment of up to five years.
Sanjush says that he did not run away from the spot after the accident. According to him, he took the injured Bharti to the hospital and then cooperated in the police investigation. At present, FSL, vehicle investigation and post mortem report are awaited, after which the picture of the case can become more clear.
